Before This Weekend Slips Away........
It’s Friday Friend (but not really, sorry life was lifin yesterday).
And whew, this week may have come and gone quickly, but that does not mean it did not carry some things. Maybe you are ending the week grateful. Maybe you are tired. Maybe you are hopeful about what is ahead, but if you are honest, maybe you are not exactly sure how you feel about it all.
We are nearing the end of summer. Some of us are trying to squeeze in one more beach getaway. Some are settling into the new school year routine. Others are walking into a new season of life that they did not plan, did not ask for, and are still trying to understand.
Even the good things need prayer.
The changes we are excited about. The things we are still grieving. The doors we hope will open. And even the things we are trying so hard not to worry about.

Around this time in 2014, I was trying to make sense of a year that had changed everything for our family.
After Corion’s event, (I still struggle to find the proper word as there truly is no word big enough for what happened), and the unexpected passing of my Mom, I was just trying to keep going.
By August, Corion had started speaking again. That alone was something I could not have imagined months earlier.
But I was still processing the pain, the fear, the exhaustion, and all the questions that came with trying to understand a life that had changed so suddenly.
In Chapter 9 of God is REAL…You Don’t Even Have to Wonder, I shared some of the Facebook posts I wrote during that season. Looking back, I can see that I was doing what many of us do when life becomes too heavy to explain. I was trying to hold on to God while trying to understand what He was doing.
And chile, sometimes that is all we can do.
I have learned that I do not always have to understand the purpose while I am standing in the middle of the pain. I do not have to figure out tomorrow while I am still trying to make it through today. I can bring the questions, the hope, the uncertainty, and my tired self to God just as I am.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
That is His invitation to us this weekend.
Not to pretend we have it all figured out. Not to carry every responsibility, every fear, and every unanswered question at once.
Just to come close.
So if this week wore you out, let yourself rest. Rest without guilt. Pray without performing.
Let God hold what you cannot control. Hope does not mean you have all the answers. Sometimes hope simply means you are still willing to believe God is with you, even here.
Before this weekend slips away, take it to God.
That is why we pray through it.
Let's Pray.....
God, I am carrying the weight of this week into the weekend. My body may be slowing down, but my mind is still holding unfinished tasks, conversations, and worries.
I hear Your invitation: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” So I am coming as I am—tired, hopeful, and needing somewhere safe to set everything down.
Help me release what can wait. Quiet the pressure in me, settle my thoughts, and let this weekend hold real rest—not just for my body, but for my soul.
AMEN
Jesus meets the weight you carried through this week with a personal invitation to come close and receive rest.
